The SpeakerLinX SL251 is an IP-Based controller/amplifier designed to mount on or adjacent to a speaker. A SpeakerLinX SL251 module contains not only the IP-controlled amplifiers, but also a web server for complete control from any computing or display device that hosts a web browser. SpeakerLinX SL251 contains a 2x50-watt Class-D amplifier with the footprint the size of a credit card. By locating the amplifier right at the speaker, power and damping losses are minimized, yielding impressive clarity and definition typically only heard with expensive audiophile component systems. Of course, SpeakerLinX is so small it can be mounted anywhere - on a stud with the mounting bracket (surface mounting plate sold separately), in a wall (decorative color plate sold separately), or rack mounted (rack plate sold separately). The SpeakerLinX SL251 also features a 4-band graphic equalizer as well as 12 DSP presets.
- Amplifier - Incorporating state of the art digital amplifier design technology, the dual mono-block power amplifier built into the SL251 operates at an astounding ~92% efficiency. NetStreams engineers have been able to fit 100 watts of power into a package small enough that it can be located next to or even on the speaker itself. As any speaker or amplifier designer will tell you, the closer the amp is to the speaker, the better the sound. This arrangement means no need for bulky, hot amplifiers cooking the other components in the rack. The benefits? More efficient use of electricity, longer component life, and most importantly, better sound
- Preamplifier - All of the standard functions of a line level preamp (volume control, L-R balance, tone controls. Input switching) are available in the SL251. Although a quick glance at the connections on the SL251 doesn''''t reveal any audio inputs, the SpeakerLinX can play context to as many sources as you have in your system via its network connectivity. That''''s right; virtually unlimited sources!
- A/D Converter- System designers can take advantage of the SpeakerLinX''''s analog audio input to connect other sound sources into the system. For example a TV, computer game system or personal MP3 player can be connected to the SL251 via an optional Audio Port wall plate. That source can then be listened to over the speakers in the room or in any other room in the house (even if the sound in the local room is off or playing a different source!)
- D/A Converter- In addition to its onboard amplifier, the SL251 has a Burr-Brown 24 bit, 192kHz Digital to Analog Converter (DAC). The output of this high quality DAC can be connected to additional amplification or a subwoofer via an optional Audio Port and the volume can be variable or set at a fixed level.
- Webserver- The SL251 contains a built in web server which creates the Graphical User Interface (GUI) used to control the system. Every zone or room has its own web server and each can be customized with a unique look and feel. There are over 20 different skins and an unlimited palette of color schemes. The SL251 can even create GUI''''s in 16 different languages when used with our "international" skin.
- KeyLinX - For simple local control, you can attach a KeyLinX to the SL251 via a single CAT5e cable. KeyLinX provide source selection, volume control, basic transport functions and even intercom capabilities.
- Intercom - The SL251 can provide a fully configurable custom intercom system just by adding a TouchLinX or KeyLinX (they all have embedded microphones). You get the best sounding, most flexible intercom system available!
- Flexibility - The small size and versatile software architecture of the SL251 gives unprecedented flexibility in system design and configuration. The amplifier can be mounted, virtually anywhere, from the main rack to the speaker, and anywhere in between. You can use a single SL251 in a zone or create a single zone out of multiple SL251''''s to drive multiple speakers in a large room. When used in conjunction with other NetStreams components the SL251 can be used to control dozens of conventional speakers or even control 70 and 100v transformer speaker systems. The SL251 may well be the most flexible amplifier in the world!
- Mounting Options - SpeakerLinX can be rack mounted, mounted at the speaker, or in the zones walls. Using a 2U NetStreams Rack Mount plate up to 4 SpeakerLinX can be mounted on the plate. Because of its 2-gang size, the SpeakerLinX can also be mounted in the wall. An in-wall lit is available (sold separately) that makes it easy to install and access at a later time. Ideally, the SpeakerLinX should be mounted as close to the speaker as possible to preserve audio quality. A surface mount plate (sold separately) is available that can be screwed into an enclosure or truss and the SpeakerLinX easily clicks in.
- StreamNet Connected - NetStreams Patent-pending StreamNet Technology provides the backbone for DigiLinX. StreamNet technology ensures that audio between all zones are within 500 microseconds of each other, StreamNet Connected devices work seamlessly together, and can be updated in the future as new features become available.
